As part of our commitment to meet the demands of the modern laboratory, Alba Bioscience is pleased to inform you of our range of control products which were developed to comply with the requirements of the UK BTS Guidelines. Not only do these ensure compliance but also allows the user to proceed with a high degree of confidence, secure in the knowledge that their testing system is capable of detecting weak, clinically significant red cell antibodies.
Introduction
All immunohaematology laboratories must demonstrate the work they are carrying out is performed to a high standard and that results are accurate.
There are many variables that can affect the outcome of antiglobulin tests and consequently adequate control is a fundamental consideration. These products have been developed for use as sensitivity controls to confirm that that the technique, as performed, is capable of detecting weak IgG antibodies.
The ALBAcheck® -BGS Sensitivity Controls are validated for use in column agglutination systems. If laboratories are using other techniques they should validate the ALBAcheck®_BGS Sensitivity Controls on that method before use.
ALBAcheck®-BGS Sensitivity Controls have 12 months shelf life.
Reagent description
ALBAcheck®-BGS has been prepared from plasma collected from blood donors. Each individual donation contains IgG anti-c or antiFya or anti-E or anti-K. Some donations may contain IgG antibodies other than the specificities shown as minor contaminants.
Conclusion
These control products comply with the UK BTS Guidelines (2007) and when used for their intended purpose will provide the user with knowledge and confidence in the performance of the test platform that is being used.
