ALBAclone Advanced Partial RhD Typing Kit
For several years Alba Bioscience has been recognised as the premier manufacturer of kits to assist in the identification of weak and partial RhD types. This kit comprises of twelve well characterised antibodies from different monoclonal anti-D cell lines.
The antibodies incorporated into this kit have undergone extensive evaluation at international workshops and by experts throughout Europe and the US. This new kit allows improved identification of newly identified partial RhD types, including DMH, DOL, etc and generally gives comparable results to molecular analysis.
Following feedback and new findings from kit users, we regularly update the information available to customers. When new patterns become evident, we update the reaction profile to ensure all users get all available information. Click on the link below (IFU) to view the most up-to-date version of the instructions for use, containing the reaction profile.
In addition, we are now posting 'Supplementary Information and Recent Findings' on this website. For the full reaction profile click on the IFU. This section contains supplemental information to enable the user to gain more value from the kit (last updated 21 December 2006).

ALBAclone Advanced Partial RhD Typing Kit
What is the kit used for?
Intended for use in the identification/differentiation of Partial RhD types (NOT SUITABLE FOR ROUTINE RhD TYPING)
What does the kit contain?
The kit comprises 12 x 2 mL monoclonal anti-D. The anti-D are all of the immunoglobulin class IgG. The IFU is also in the kit. The cell lines are human-mouse heterohybridoma.
How is the kit used?
All components of the kit can be used by the techniques 37 °C NIS/LIS 15 min IAGT (this involves a secondary reagent AHG which most labs will already have in stock - it is not included as part of the kit). This technique is sometimes referred to as the Indirect Antiglobulin Test or Coombs test (IAGT/IAT).
Controls should be set up:
R1r - positive control
rr - negative control
The results are as follows:
Agglutination present - positive
Agglutination absent - negative
Which partial RhD types can be differentiated using the kit?
Users should consult the instructions for use (IFU) which comes with the product, or consult the website which should have the latest version of the reaction profile. Refer questions to the Technical Services Manager.
How are the results processed?
Results are compared to the reaction profile on the IFU. The user must then identify the reaction pattern and deduce which partial RhD type. Refer questions to the Technical Services Manager.
What is the shelf-life of the product?
The product is stable until the expiry date indicated on the vials. The product is given a 2-year expiry from the date of manufacture.
What is the storage temperature?
2-8 °C
What is the pack size?
12 x 2ml
Is the kit CE Marked?
Yes
Is the kit available in the USA?
Yes, but it is supplied as a 'Research Use Only' product currently.
What do I do if I am unsure of my result or no pattern is seen?
Repeat the testing. If still no pattern is seen then please contact the Technical Services Manager at Alba Bioscience to discuss. New partial RhD types are being discovered regularly and we would be interested in unusual reaction patterns with a view to extending the reaction profile for new types.
How do I order the product?
Please contact customer services at Alba Bioscience or contact one of our distributors (see distributors section for contact details).
Bulk products Z693A-L can also be ordered via customer services.
In the US please contact Quotient Biodiagnostics Inc.
